The department of agricultural mechanization and automation was established in 1972, which is the implementation major of the national and provincial outstanding engineer education and training program, first-class undergraduate major construction point and characteristic major of Yunnan province. There are 12 faculty members, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors. The department has a master's degree authorization point of agricultural mechanization engineering, one provincial engineering research center and one university-level engineering research center, one provincial excellent course and one provincial bilingual demonstration course. The research of the faculty covers agricultural mechanization production and its equipment technology, agricultural machinery equipment technology with characteristics of plateau area, such as intelligent precision seeding technology, agricultural robot technology, ultrasonic sensing detection technology and whole-process mechanized planting mode.  At present, they have been supported by grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China and from various research projects funded by governments and enterprises. Until now the total amount of the research contracts and grants approaches 5 million RMB.
