About Us


The College of mechanical and electrical engineering of Yunnan Agricultural University was founded in 1972, formerly the department of agricultural machinery. It was renamed the College of engineering and technology in 1993 and the College of mechanical and electrical engineering in 2014. The college now has 65 faculty members, including 8 professors, 15 faculty members with doctoral degrees, 6 doctoral candidates, 31 associate professors and 23 master supervisors. One leading talent of industrial technology in the Ten Thousand Person Plan of Yunnan Province , two technological innovation talents in Yunnan Province, one outstanding young person in Yunnan Province, one faculty member with first prize of teaching achievement in Yunnan Province, one faculty member with first prize of technological invention in Yunnan Province, one faculty member with third prize of Natural Science Award in Yunnan Province, one faculty member with special prize and one faculty member with second prize of lecture competition for College Teachers in Yunnan Province. The college has a modern agricultural equipment engineering research center with the characteristics of the highlands of Yunnan higher education and a research center of special cash crop production equipment of Yunnan Agricultural University. It owns two approved projects of the university -level virtual teaching and research office and two Huang Danian fuculty teams. For a long time, graduates of the College of mechanical and electrical engineering have been widely welcomed by employers for our graduates have solid basic theoretical knowledge, high comprehensive quality, strong practical ability, character of diligence and spirit of dedication. The average employment rate of graduates over the past three years is 86.72%.

The college of mechanical and electrical engineering involves first level discipline named agricultural engineering and 4 sub-disciplines including agricultural mechanization engineering, agrobiological environment and energy engineering, agricultural electrification and automation and machinery design and manufacture, and master’s degree in agriculture named agricultural engineering and information technology. The college currently offers six undergraduate programs in  agricultural mechanization and automation, mechanical design manufacture and automation, mechatronics Engineering, electrical engineering and automation, energy and power engineering and vehicle engineering.

The college has 1813 students, including 1711 undergraduates and 102 postgraduates. The college has always attached importance to the cultivation of students' engineering practice and innovation and entrepreneurship ability, implementing the teaching concept of "promoting teaching and learning through competition". According to the discipline and specialty construction, the college has confirmed 15 competitions sponsored (entrusted) by national industry associations at all levels. In recent years, a total of 27 national and 74 provincial awards have been won in the national undergraduate discipline competition, showing good quality of education.
