The College has mechanical and Electrical Engineering Experimental Teaching Center (32 professional laboratories), Mechanical Manufacturing Training Center, agricultural machinery exhibition hall, machinery design institute and other experimental practice teaching institutions, 1171 teaching instruments and equipment, with a fund of 10.1025 million yuan. The college has a national applied talent training engineering training base issued by the education management information center of the Ministry of Education, a "CSWA examination center" joint training base authorized by SolidWorks China, The National CAXC’s Computer Aided Technology Certification examination center and the"Co-simulation Laboratory" of ANSYS company. The college actively cooperates with relevant enterprises and has established 16 practice teaching bases.

Faculty members of the college have presided over 10 projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation projects, 25 projects sponsored by Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and technology, more than 40 projects sponsored by Research Foundation of Yunnan Provincial Education Department , and more than 60 horizontal projects concerning agriculture and machinery industry in Yunnan Province. These researches mainly focus on mechanization of agricultural production, intelligent agricultural equipment, monitoring and intelligent control of agricultural production, and development and utilization of new energy. For example, the development of automatic piston pin double end chamfering machine tools and the application of PC technology which won the second prize of scientific and technological achievements of Chuxiong Prefecture; the rotary tillage deep loosening ridging joint rig which won the invention bronze prize of the national association of inventions . During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the college undertook 47 scientific research projects with a total fund of 10.486 million, including 2 national projects and 18 horizontal projects, with a total fund of 5.161 million. Faculty members have published more than 400 papers in core journals at home and abroad, such as Energy, Biosystems Engineering, Transactions of the ASABE, Journal of Agricultural Engineering, and Journal of Agricultural Machinery and so on, of which more than 50 have been included by SCI, EI and CPCI; The college has been granted more than 100 national patents and 12 invention patents, such as Panax notoginseng planter , the potato harvester, the rotary tillage soil deep loosening ridging machine , electric honey-swinging machine, ham tanning machine.
